Our experience with Carlton Solle & Coldwell Banker Peninsula Trading Company Costa Rica, Our interest and journey to Costa Rica started with us reading an online article from Best Places to retire which we subscribe too. The article came out in the summer of 2006 and in it came this little pueblo (town) called Tambor. With a lower than average cost of living, and a sleepy little ocean side village of only a couple hundred residents. The article went on telling about the upside and down side of living in Costa Rica, enough to spark our interest to get a book titled "Living and Retiring in Costa Rica". It was a wealth of information and throughout the book it mentioned several times that a "good realtor and an attorney is a must". My wife Pam and I fully agreed but where do we start? We live in Utah and don't have any connection in Tambor Costa Rica. So we started Googling and came across a Costa Rica Real Estate site with ads posted for land in Tambor, Costa Rica. A long with the site came information about the realtors working in the Tambor area and that's when we found Carlton Solle and Coldwell Banker Peninsula Trading Company Costa Rica Real Estate. I e-mailed and he responded immediately with greatness as all realtors do but Carlton Solle from the start was different. He asked about me and how we came about contacting him. E-mails went back and forth over the next few months to where I felt we were becoming friends of sort. No hard pressure on hurry and get down here, not like other realtors in the Tambor area. Not putting all our eggs in one basket we contacted other realtors and developers from the North to the South. I can't tell you how many high pressure phone calls we started getting from salesman, some asking very personal financial information. My wife and I decided to take the plunge and make a trip down. We spent the first four days on the mainland checking out Jaco Beach and the towns up and down the coast.  We made arrangements to ferry over to Tambor on the peninsula and meet with Carlton. When we finally met it was like we were old friends. He and Spencer escorted us around for the better part of two days. In Carlton's world "you have to experience and feel the land" to understand Costa Rica. Everywhere we went and encountered local Tico's, everyone greeted Carlton, and we could see the acceptance that the locals showed. Not some American down here selling off their land, but someone that cares, loves, respects, and embrace's their land. Before we left to go back home Carlton made arrangements for us to meet with an attorney that he recommended in San Jose to further answer our questions and concerns.  All in all Carlton made our trip worthwhile helped us with advice and escorting us around like royalty, Costa Rican style!  My wife and I purchased an ocean view lot in the Tango Mar Resort in Tambor and actually did it after we returned to the U.S. Through phone calls and e-mails we put our trust in Carlton Solle and have never regretted a moment. His staff and the law firm that he recommended handled every detail to the fullest. During Calendar year 2007 I began investigating real estate investments in the area of Mal Pais, Costa Rica.  I was drawn to this area by its reputation as a premier surfing destination.  I had surfed on the east coast of the United States for about 15 years and had always wanted to invest in surfing related real estate.  The US east coast was both out of my reach and it does not provide very good surfing conditions.

I had the fortunate luck of being put in touch with Chazz Polizzotto by a mutual friend.  As it happened, Chazz was a member of Saint Joe's Parish in Marietta, GA prior to moving to Tambor, Costa Rica.  Our mutual friend was also a parishioner at Saint Joe's and recommended I get Chazz to coach me on Costa Rica Real Estate.  It was an amazing coincidence that Chazz located to the same area I was already evaluating.

Over the course of the next year Chazz looked at several different properties whenever I'd seek his opinion.  On each occasion Chazz was convinced that I would be losing money initially on the investment, he encouraged me to wait until we found a piece of property which would make us money the day we bought it.

Sure enough, out of the blue one day during the summer of 2008, Chazz e-mailed me about a piece of property that had just come on the market about one mile outside of Playa Carmen, Costa Rica.  We were able to purchase this property out of a foreclosure process, and I am very comfortable with the quality of the resulting investment. Chazz has coached me through every aspect of this investment.  From evaluation through close, and now through managing the property, Chazz has been there to look out for my interests.  Chazz has always done everything he has said he was going to do; this has put our mind at ease with regard to our investment.  As a result, this has been a very positive experience.
